The all-new 3.6L V6 for the Cadillac ATS, CTS, CT6 and upcoming XT5 features cylinder deactivation, direct injection and stop/start technology. The 3.6L was selected by WardsAuto as one of the 10 Best Engines in the industry for 2016.

V6 ENGINE POWERS ATS, CTS, CT6 CARS AND XT5 CROSSOVER

DETROIT - December 10, 2015: The all-new, 3.6L V6 powering several Cadillac models today was named one of Ward’s 10 Best Engines. The new V6 debuted this year, and is optional on Cadillac’s 2016 ATS and CTS product lines.

The engine also will be offered on the upcoming CT6 range-topping sedan, and is standard in North America for the first-ever XT5 crossover launching in the first half of 2016.

WardsAuto reviewed 31 engines from 11 automakers in this year’s competition, which looked at power, fuel efficiency, new technology and refinement and compared it with data for similar engines and propulsion systems.

“The 3.6 delivers the kind of power and lusty exhaust note you associate with a V-8, for the price of a V-6. Plus, it’s loaded with advanced technology, including fuel-saving cylinder deactivation,” says Drew Winter, director, Content at WardsAuto.

The engine incorporates technologies for uncompromised efficiency and performance, including direct injection, continuously variable valve timing and, for the first time, Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation.) Active Fuel Management temporarily deactivates two cylinders in light-load driving conditions to enhance fuel efficiency and seamlessly reactivates them when the driver demands full power.
