LOS ANGELES -- November 19, 2015: Cargomatic -- the technology platform that brings the sharing economy to local trucking -- was awarded the 2015 Patrick Soon-Shiong Innovation Award at a ceremony held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on November 18th.

Founded in 2010 in partnership with the Los Angeles Business Journal, the award is given annually to recognize innovation and advancement by California companies in fields such as technology, medicine and engineering.

The awards are named for Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, a surgeon, entrepreneur and inventor who has pioneered therapies for diabetes and cancer and holds over 95 patents. Dr. Soon-Shiong lives in Los Angeles and is recognized locally and internationally for his philanthropic work through the Chan Soon-Shiong Family Foundation and The Giving Pledge.

Cargomatic's technology is transforming the $82 billion local U.S. trucking industry by helping to connect companies who need to ship goods locally with truckers who have extra capacity on their trucks. The platform brings much-needed efficiency to the transportation industry while also helping to reduce carbon emissions and traffic congestion. Cargomatic serves the nation's two largest metropolitan areas, Los Angeles and New York, and is based in Venice, California.

"Cargomatic is honored to be recognized with this prestigious Innovation Award from the Los Angeles Business Journal and Dr. Soon-Shiong. His myriad transformative works in the medical field are truly inspiring and will motivate the Cargomatic team as we continue to work to transform trucking through the power of technology," said Cargomatic co-founder and CEO, Jonathan Kessler, who accepted the award from Dr. Soon-Shiong at the ceremony.

Cargomatic is improving the local trucking industry for both shippers and truckers by modernizing B2B transportation logistics. Cargomatic's desktop and mobile app brings the sharing economy to the $82 billion dollar local trucking industry by giving shippers streamlined access to available truck capacity and trusted, affordable drivers. Since launching in 2014, Venice, California-based Cargomatic has aided the expedition of tens of thousands of deliveries throughout Southern California and metropolitan New York. cargomatic.com
