Bob Lutz Takes On Pearl Harbor Challenge

DETROIT, Nov. 5, 2015 -- With the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor only 13 months away, a "Modern Day Arsenal of Democracy," under the leadership of Robert A. Lutz, has joined together to restore the hallowed grounds, hangars and control tower of Ford Island, Pearl Harbor.  Forever opening these historic structures to the public is paramount to the legacy and commitment of the Greatest Generation, which must never be forgotten.  Together, these treasures, which are part of a National Historic Landmark site, not only tell a story of American resilience, but also impart an understanding and commitment to pass on the values and character of our "Greatest Generation."

The passage of time has taken its toll on these buildings.  Although corrosion and site deterioration from years of deferred maintenance threaten, standing on this battlefield stirs the heart.  Together, these treasures tell a story of American resilience, dedicated to honoring our past so that we might inspire our future.

This Veterans Day, please join us as we outline the plan to resolve as a nation to restore and protect this symbol of freedom, honor and respect for all men and women who served and continue to serve our country.
