Setra Picks Up Four Awards at Busworld Trade Show

European Coach & Bus Week-Jury awards TopClass 500 with “Grand Award Coach”, “Ecology Label” and “Styling & Design Label”

Trade magazine "Omnibusrevue" honours S 515 MD with "Green Coach Award 2015"

STUTTGART/KORTRIJK -- Oct. 23, 2015: The Setra brand has been honoured at the "Busworld" international trade show in Kortrijk, Belgium (16 – 21 October) with several awards. The jury of experts from European Coach & Bus Week (ECW) presented the S 516 HDH from the Setra TopClass 500 with this year's "Grand Award Coach". In addition, the committee also paid tribute to the high environmental compatibility as well as the aesthetic design of the innovative Setra touring coach generation by awarding it the "Ecology Label" and "Styling & Design Label".

For Hartmut Schick, Head of Daimler Buses, the prize represents acknowledgement of the future technologies promoted by Daimler Buses: "We are proud that with the award-winning Setra TopClass 500 we have also been able to take on a pioneering role in the areas of ecology and economy which respects both people and the environment to a very high level."

Setra TopClass 500 combines luxury and functionality at the highest level

Alongside the vehicles of the Setra TopClass 500, the mid-decker touring coaches of the ComfortClass 500 also received a high level of praise. The S 515 MD was honoured with the "Green Coach Award 2015". The prize has been awarded since 2011 to a touring coach one year and an urban bus the next year by the trade publications "Omnibusrevue" and "Busfahrer". This year already marked the third time that the trophy was awarded to the Setra brand from Daimler Buses.

The jury's statement on its rationale highlighted the following: "The S 515 MD achieved the lowest fuel consumption on the test route. In addition, the touring coach impressed with its strong focus on a consistent level of economy. Virtually no other vehicle in this segment provides as much coach for the money as the Setra MD from the ComfortClass 500."

Mid-decker extends the Setra ComfortClass 500 range

The S 515 MD is a full-fledged touring coach which incorporates the benefits of the economical ComfortClass 500. With a height of 3560 mm, rather than standing in the shadow of its bigger "brother" the mid-decker fits perfectly into the existing product family with a character all of its own.
