LONDON -- Oct. 6, 2015: Gaucho Productions has debuted a short-form documentary series laying bare the development of the new Ford Focus RS. Filmed across two continents and five countries, Rebirth of an Icon follows the Ford Performance team and world rally and gymkhana star Ken Block as they transform the Focus into an all-wheel drive enthusiast’s machine. Episode one of the weekly series debuted on 30th September and cumulative views for the project currently exceed 1.3 million.

The series was directed by Alistair Weaver (Touring Car Legends, Dakar Rally: Frontline to Finish Line). “We’ve followed the team from the heat of Arizona to the icy wastes of the Arctic, and from the design studio to the crash lab,” says Weaver. “We were given extraordinary access throughout the development process, capturing the intensity of the challenge and riding an emotional rollercoaster with the team. It’s a great human story and we’re confident the films will appeal to a broad audience, from diehard RS enthusiasts to anyone interested in what it takes to develop a modern performance car.”

Mark Truby, Vice President, Communications and Public Affairs, Ford of Europe, said:  “Our goal was to give people an unprecedented insiders’ view of the development of a high performance car and Gaucho was the ideal partner.  They were able to capture the highs and lows, the setbacks and breakthroughs, and ultimately the passion and dedication it takes for a small team to create a truly special car.”

Episode 2, focusing on design and crash testing, debuts tomorrow, while Episode 1 can be viewed here.
