GM Hispanic Engineer Recognized for Leadership Qualities

DETROIT -- April 29, 2015: Imelda Siegelson, stamping launch coordinator and an industrial engineer at General Motors Spring Hill, Tenn. Manufacturing, was among 34 young Latino professionals recognized for their leadership qualities by the Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility during its Young Hispanic Corporate Achievers Program in Atlanta.

"Through their educational attainment, community service, and corporate leadership, HACR Young Hispanic Corporate Achievers™ are setting a new standard of excellence and serving as role models for other young corporate executives," HACR President and CEO Cid Wilson said.

During her 15-year GM career, Siegelson has worked as a core team group leader, lead industrial engineer, and area industrial engineer for various manufacturing departments. She also has been recognized with a 40 under 40 Award by the Greater Shreveport and Bossier City, La. chambers of commerce for her achievements, experience and innovation, vision, leadership and community involvement.

"The GM family congratulates Imelda on this remarkable honor," said GM Chief Diversity Officer Ken Barrett. "Hispanic engineers are vital to the future of our industry. Imelda's accomplishments can serve as an example and an inspiration for other Latinos."

Siegelson and the YHCA awardees gathered for an intensive three-day leadership development and training program during the 23rd Annual Symposium: The Power of Hispanic Inclusion. They participated in team-building exercises, group presentations and challenging panel discussions and sessions on corporate diversity, personal branding, and organizational services to enhance internal and external collaboration, inclusion, and leadership.

"GM and HACR have given me the opportunity to develop my leadership skills and join a network of professionals that are also committed to promoting Hispanic empowerment," Siegelson said. "I'm honored to receive this recognition."

As part of the HACR Annual Symposium, Steve Hill, GM North America vice president of U.S. Sales and Service, participated in the Business Session C-Suite Roundtable for a discussion about diversity and inclusion.

"As the country becomes more diverse, our dealer body and the people that sell and service our cars should look like that," said Steve Hill. "We're proud to have the most diverse dealer network in the country.

General Motors is a HACR Corporate Member and the automaker has partnered with HACR since 1995.
