AAA: Mild Gas Prices in Illinois/Indiana this Spring

AURORA, IL -- April 3, 2015: Drivers in Illinois and northern Indiana continue to enjoy relatively mild prices at the gas pump this spring. Illinois and Indiana drivers are currently paying on average $2.61 and $2.33 respectively for a gallon of regular unleaded. These prices reflect a rise of $.15 and a decline of $.08 from a month ago, and a decline from 2014’s prices of $3.76 and $3.70.

In March in Illinois, gas prices averaged $2.51, which was up $.16 from February 2015 but still $1.23 less than a year ago. In northern Indiana, gas prices averaged $2.45 in March, which was up $.20 from February 2015 and down $1.20 from March 2014.

“While prices in Illinois rose nearly $.20 in March, due to a number of refinery problems, prices over the past week have fallen nearly $.10,” said Beth Mosher, director of public affairs for AAA Chicago. “Even with the temporary price spike, prices have remained relatively low and should continue to stay that way through the summer driving season.”

In Cook County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.73, which is up $.20 from last month and $1.23 lower than last year’s price-per-gallon.
In DuPage County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.61 per gallon, which is a $.20 increase from February and down $1.20 from last year.
In Kane County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.56 per gallon, which is up $.19 compared to last month and $1.23 lower than March 2014’s price.
In Lake County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.55 per gallon, which is $.16 higher than last month and down by $1.24 compared to this time last year.
In McHenry County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.55 per gallon, which is $.21 higher than last month’s average and $1.26 lower than last year.
In Will County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.57 per gallon, which is $.17 higher compared to last month and $1.20 lower compared to last year.
In Champaign County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.28 per gallon, an increase of $.08 from February and $1.36 lower than last year.
In McLean County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.29 per gallon, which is $.04 higher than last month and $1.29 lower than last year.
In Peoria County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.34 per gallon, which is up $.11 compared to last month and down $1.28 from March 2014.
In Sangamon County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.33 per gallon, which is $.08 higher than last month and $1.28 lower than last year.
In Winnebago County, Ill., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.43 per gallon, an increase of $.13 from February and $1.24 lower than March 2014.
In Allen County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.29 per gallon, which is even with than last month and $1.37 lower than March 2014’s price.
In Lake County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.44 per gallon, which is up $.19 from February’s average and is a $1.20 decrease from a year ago.
In Porter County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.47 per gallon, which is $.23 higher than last month and $1.16 lower than last year.
In St. Joseph County, Ind., self-serve regular unleaded gasoline averages $2.32 per gallon, which is $.02 higher compared to last month and $1.39 lower with last year.
