Fontana, Calif - January 31, 2015 - - "His name is synonymous with Porsche performance, and we're very proud to announce that Alwin Springer has agreed to serve as our Grand Marshal for this year's California Festival of Speed (CFoS)," said event manager Martin Lipp.

Springer, who plans to bring his whole family to Fontana to help him "reign" as the event's honored guest, served as President of Porsche Motorsport North America (PMNA) from October 1989 to 2003, and continues to consult on rules and regulations for PMNA to present time. Prior to that, Springer was Vice President of ANDIAL, the legendary Porsche tuning company that was created in 1985.

The ANDIAL name is an anagram made from the names of the founding members; the late Arnold Wagner (AN); Dieter Inzenhofer (DI); and Alwin Springer (AL). That name is well-known in the motorsports world from its many successes in North American sports car racing, especially with the formidable Porsche 962. In 2014, Porsche brought the famous ANDIAL name back, using it to designate high-performance/racing editions of their cars.

Event sponsor, Porsche of San Diego, will be sending an open Porsche to Auto Club Speedway for Springer and his wife to ride in during opening ceremony parade laps. "This will be a true honor for us, Mister Springer is a legend in our world," said dealership President, Joe Allis. A number of other family members (Springer is bringing his grandkids to share the day) will also be special passengers in additional Porsches for the track tour.

The CFoS is a very special gathering of high performance automobiles that each year takes over the entire Auto Club Speedway grounds and offers an enthusiast's dream list of automotive attractions. This year's event will run over the April 11-12 weekend and will be visited by high performance car lovers from across the continent and from around the world.

Saturday, April 11th's "menu" will include an incredible array of Porsche-centric attractions like Porsche new car test drives, on track competition races, special parking "corrals" for each of the various Porsche models, a Porsche swap meet, a concours d'elegance, the chance to take some exciting parade laps right on the Speedway, a wide-ranging vendor's row with over 50 companies displaying. In addition, fans will be able to try the latest electronic driving simulators, and a special "winner's circle" photo area where fans be able to take "selfies" of themselves with one of the on-site umbrella girls.

Of particular interest to many visitors will be a special preview of the new Porsche Experience Center now being built by that company in Carson, California.

In true southern California style, gourmet food trucks will be on hand both days with a delightful selection of food items and refreshments.

On Sunday, April 12, all the of above Porsche attractions will all be there and the Festival will add what has become the largest Supercar event (sponsored by HRE Wheels) in the Southwest with over 1000 spectacular eurocars rolling in to Fontana from all points of the compass. With Internet Brands as a sponsor, there will be special club corrals for marques like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Jaguar, Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Corvette, McLaren, Aston Martin and more.

Sunday's Eurocar swap meet will be of special interest to fans and aficionados alike, there's nothing like a stroll by tables of glittering parts and pieces of exotic machines, all laid out, with an interesting story (and maybe a bargain price) behind each one.

The 2015 California Festival of Speed at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana is two full days of exotic automotive excitement and entertainment ... a multi-faceted attraction that has something for everyone who loves stirring motorcars!

Adding to the great news, there's no admission charge for either day of the 2015 California Festival of Speed and parking is $10 per car (and the parking pass is good for both days).
