CHICHESTER, UK -- December 16, 2014: Rolls-Royce Motor Cars celebrated local community heroes yesterday evening at the annual Observer Community Awards in Bognor Regis. The Goodwood-based luxury manufacturer has been headline sponsor of the awards since 2009.

Organised by the Observer Series of newspapers, the awards recognise the true heroes of local towns and villages who make such a difference to people's lives. This year a record 14 categories were celebrated including Best Volunteer, Best Community Person, Best School, Mini Hero, School Star, Best Local Charity/Charity Group and Contribution to the Arts in the Community. The gala evening was presented by TV legend, Fred Dinenage, veteran presenter on the local flagship programme 'ITV News Meridian'.

The Observer Community Award for Special Achievement, also sponsored by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, was presented to Adam Brombley. Adam was recognised by the judges for demonstrating great strength in a year-long battle with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma which saw him undergo several operations followed by intense chemotherapy. Adam has shown true bravery throughout his treatment and is an inspiration to other cancer sufferers. Now in remission, the Chichester High School for Boys pupil recently performed live on national television as part of the ‘Stand Up To Cancer’ Children's Choir.

Speaking from the event, Andrew Ball, Global Corporate Communications Manager, said, “Rolls‑Royce Motor Cars works hard to be a good neighbour and community partner and we were delighted to sponsor the Observer Community Awards for the fifth consecutive year. It is impossible not to be inspired by the outstanding contributions recognised at this very special evening.”

Gary Shipton, Editor in Chief, Chichester Observer, said, “I would like to thank Rolls-Royce Motor Cars for their invaluable headline sponsorship for our awards. It was an absolutely fabulous evening with so many wonderful stories from some truly inspirational people who make this area such a great place to live.”
