Mercedes-Maybach S Class

STUTTGART -- December 16, 2014: As the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz model range, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class satisfies the very highest requirements in terms of comfort as far as its appointments are concerned. Numerous exclusive details underline the car's ambition to lead. In addition, all the technological highlights of the S-Class are also available. With this technology offensive and prices from 134,053.50 euros[1] (S 500), Mercedes-Maybach is revolutionising the exclusive luxury class. The market launch of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is scheduled for February 2015. With immediate effect, the new models are now available to order.

As an addition to the Mercedes-Benz product portfolio, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class sets new benchmarks in the luxury segment. At 5453 mm long and with a wheelbase of 3365 mm, the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz model range is 20 cm larger in both dimensions than the S-Class Saloon with long wheelbase.

The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is specifically designed to be chauffeur-driven. For the driver and any front passenger, there have been no compromises compared with a "normal" S-Class. Here, however, the real sense of spaciousness is to be found in the rear. The wheelbase of the saloon, the quietest in the world for rear-seat passengers, has been extended by 200 mm, the full extent of which benefits those sitting in the back. The roof line also means that there is more headroom. The seat belt buckle extender, beltbag (both part of the PRE-SAFEŽ rear package, beltbag also available separately) and seat cushion airbag are innovative safety features in the rear of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class that contribute to its unique flair.

A new function underscoring the positioning of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class as a chauffeur-driven vehicle is its voice amplification system. This innovative function makes it easier to communicate with the rear passengers from the front. The two microphones in the interior mirror are also used to pick up speech for the hands-free telephone system. These signals are then discreetly amplified depending on the amount of driving noise, and continuously adjusted for the speaker's volume and the ambient noise level.

The top-of-the-range model is the Mercedes-Maybach S 600. Its V12 biturbo engine has an output of 390 kW (530 hp). It has a displacement of 5980 cc and maximum torque of 830 Nm from 1900 rpm.

The V8 biturbo engine in the Mercedes-Maybach S 500 generates an output of 335 kW(455 hp) from a displacement of 4663 cc. This model has a maximum torque of 700 Nm, available from just 1800 rpm. NEDC fuel consumption (combined) for the saloon is a mere 8.9 litres of premium petrol/100 km, while CO2 emissions stand at 207 g/km.
