This past June, four countries hosted 120 of the world’s hottest luxury cars (and drivers) for a charity car rally that crossed two continents. The Gumball 3000 rally, founded by Maximillion Cooper in 1999, traveled from Miami to Ibiza, stopping along the way in Daytona, Charlotte, Atlanta, New York, Edinburgh, London, Paris and Barcelona. With awesome cars, great parties and celebrities at each stop, the rally was a gearhead’s ultimate dream – and as a first-time participant, the AnastasiaDate team experienced the whole thing firsthand.

Our car, a 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder, emphasized the scale of this massive event which would span 3,000 miles. Margarita and Alisa, our sexy drivers who came over from Russia to participate, donned purple and black racing suits that were designed as a modern tribute to the classic film The Cannonball Run.

Gumball Drivers, Start Your Engines!

Day one on Ocean Drive in Miami kicked off with Grand Marshall Xhibit and Maximillion Cooper officially announcing that the Gumball 3000 was under way. From there, our Lambo tore up the coast, making a pit stop for gas in rural Georgia. We pulled into our first official stop in Atlanta where Gumball put on a concert for Rally participants and locals.

On our way to New York, we saw fellow rally members in a Ferrari F12 pulled over with smoke coming out of the car’s hood after taking their ride to 250 km/h. Apart from some traffic in Maryland, the trip in the AnastasiaDate car was smooth-sailing – until our luck ran out in New York City, our final U.S. pit stop. Margarita and Alisa got trapped in our hotel elevator for a half-hour until rescued by the FDNY, but thankfully they made it out safely. After recovering from the journey up the East Coast, we then prepared to board our flight to Edinburgh.

1,600 Miles to the Finish Line

After making it across the Atlantic, we landed in Scotland and were greeted by bagpipers, which kicked off the next leg of our road trip to London. Our Spyder made it through the winding streets of London to Piccadilly Circus where we were surrounded on all sides by thousands of onlookers. After making it to our hotel at 3 a.m., we finally got some much needed Z’s before the next leg of our European journey, through the Chunnel and into France.

Before crossing the English Channel, we made a quick detour to the Top Gear test track where Margarita took our Lambo for a few laps. Afterward, we headed to the mainland of Europe, met with beautiful vistas of the French and Spanish countryside, and also with hefty speeding fines from the French and Spanish Police (Xhibit even got his license confiscated on the Spanish border!).

Several hundreds of Euros poorer, we pulled into Barcelona, our second to last stop, and from there, we raced downed to the finish line in Ibiza.

An Unforgettable End to a Truly Epic Journey

After traveling 3,000 miles and across two continents in just seven days, we were ready to celebrate what we had accomplished. For the next 24 hours, Ibiza was full of Rally participants celebrating in the world-renowned clubs and on the beach, a fitting end to one wild ride.

The hundreds of drivers, participants and sponsors helped to fundraise more than $1 million for charity and accumulated a lifetime’s worth of shared memories.
