  • Dacia sales up 59.77 per cent year-to-date to 18,583 vehicles
  • Dacia sales up 27.69 per cent in September
  • Year-to-date sales already ahead of 2013 full year total
  • Dacia retail sales stand at 91.8 per cent year-to-date
  • Dacia market share of 0.95 per cent year-to-date
  • 17th consecutive month of outpacing market growth for Renault Group
Dacia continued its rise up the sales charts in September with the no-nonsense, value-driven car brand finding favour with 3,523 new owners – a rise of 27.7 per cent compared to September last year and quite a bit more than a car’s length ahead of the UK car market which grew by 5.6 per cent.

According to official figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Dacia’s market share for the month is up to 0.83 per cent. Year-to-date market share for the ‘shockingly affordable’ brand stands at 0.95 per cent with sales of 18,583 new Dacia vehicles – this is up 59.8 per cent from 11,631 vehicles during the first three quarters of 2013 and comfortably ahead of the 2013 full-year total of 17,146 vehicles – more than three months in advance of last year.

So far this year just over half of all the cars sold in the UK (53.8 per cent to be precise) have been to the retail market. Dacia is one of the few to buck this trend as 91.8 per cent of our customers this year have been private individuals who have ‘done the maths’ on the value of Dacia ownership and bought from their own pocket.

The Renault Group, which comprises Dacia, Renault cars and Renault vans, saw its 17th consecutive month of outpacing the growth of the market in September with a total of 19,112 vehicles sold in September – a growth of 39.8 per cent versus a market growth of 5.6 per cent. Group year-to-date sales passed the 2013 full-year total in September and currently stand at 82,829 vehicles, up 57.1 per cent on the same period last year.

Commenting on the results, Darren Payne, Sales Director, Renault UK Limited, said: “The clear value of the Dacia line-up is continuing to win over new customers and it’s the Sandero family hatchback that is proving to be a runaway success with nearly 12,000 finding new homes in the UK so far this year. Having already passed last year’s sales total, and with the recent revisions to the New Duster SUV we’re confident that yet more customers will ‘do the maths’ and try the UK’s smartest buy car brand in the months ahead.”

The Dacia range comprises the Sandero family hatchback, the Sandero Stepway crossover hatch, the Logan MCV estate car and the New Duster SUV. New Duster went on sale in September with upgrades for the outside and inside of the vehicle that launched Dacia in the UK but with no increase in price.
