Toyota Announces Recall of Certain Avalon, Camry, Highlander, Sienna, and Lexus RX Vehicles

recall

TORRANCE, CA -- September 18, 2014: Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., today announced plans to conduct a voluntary safety recall of approximately 20,000 Model Year 2014 Avalon, Camry, Highlander, Sienna, and Model Year 2015 Lexus RX vehicles equipped with the 2GR-FE engine.

In the involved vehicles, the end cap on the right-hand fuel delivery pipe in the engine compartment could have been insufficiently welded during manufacturing at the supplier. In this condition, fuel could leak from the fuel delivery pipe and, in the presence of an ignition source, could increase the risk of a vehicle fire.

Toyota is not aware of any fires, crashes, injuries or fatalities caused by this condition.

Owners of the vehicles involved will receive a notification by first class mail. Toyota and Lexus dealers will inspect the fuel delivery pipe and if it was produced at the involved supplier, replace it with a new one.

Detailed information is available to Lexus, Toyota and Scion customers at Toyota Recall and by calling Toyota Customer Service at 1-800-331-4331 or Lexus Customer Service at 1-800-255-3987.
