AFFALTERBACH, Germany - September 9, 2014: Mercedes-Benz is presenting the live introduction of its exciting new AMG GT today at 1:30PM east coast time, 10:30AM west coast time. You can watch the entire event right here.

The live event has concluded. The following video contains highlights from the premiere

A new sports car fully independently developed by AMG is a special happening, even if it doesn’t have gull-wing doors. The new Mercedes-AMG GT means pure driving pleasure and doesn’t make any compromises – neither on the race track nor in the daily use on the road. This is possible through a sophisticated technical concept including a completely new 4.0-liter V8 Biturbo engine as well as the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive assistance systems.

With the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT, the high performance division of Mercedes-Benz is positioning AMG more aggressively than to date as a dynamic sports car brand. The Mercedes-AMG GT is the second sports car developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG. Packed with sophisticated technology, the two-seater is designed to succeed in the competitive sports car segment. The world premiere of the Mercedes-AMG GT is one of the most awaited reveals of the automotive year 2014. Formula 1 pilot Nico Rosberg will be on hand for the reveal of the Mercedes-AMG GT.

The Mercedes-AMG GT has everything you would expect from an authentic AMG sports car - from the characteristic styling, thoroughbred motor sport technology to the optimum weight distribution. The drive system tailored consistently to driving dynamics perfectly complements this set-up. The centerpiece of the Mercedes-AMG GT, the new 4.0-litre V8 biturbo, responds with extreme power even from low revs and delivers outstanding performance.

The AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine is being made in Affalterbach according to the "one man, one engine" principle. In the AMG engine shop, highly qualified fitters assemble the engines by hand according to the strictest quality standards - visible on the AMG engine plate with the engine technician's signature. Performance figures such as 3.8 seconds from zero to 100 km/h (60 mph) and a top speed of 310 km/h (figures for GT S) will undoubtedly translate into fast laps on the racetrack.

At the same time, the two-seater is a straightforward, reliable companion for everyday motoring thanks to its practical tailgate, easily accessible luggage compartment, high level of comfort on long journeys and the extensive Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive assistance systems.
