SAN DIEGO--May 19, 2014: SmartDrive Systems, a leader in driving performance solutions that reduce collisions and improve fuel efficiency, today announced that Bozzuto's Inc., a leading total service wholesale distributor of food and household products to retailers in New England, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, has extended its partnership with SmartDrive Systems for an additional three years. A SmartDrive customer since 2011, Bozzuto's has experienced marked improvement in its fleet safety, leading to sustainable cost reduction.

With a strong focus on customer service, Bozzuto's recognized that its success in transportation and warehouse operations depended on a strong safety culture, leading to deployment of SmartDrive's video-based safety solution across its fleet of 250 vehicles.

"We originally selected the event recording system to help reduce unsafe driving events," said Thomas Halpin, transportation safety manager for Bozzuto's. "We are extending our relationship with SmartDrive because we continue to see value, achieving year-over-year reduction in collisions, improvement in CSA scores, and overall better driving performance."

Bozzuto's is focused on the industry's CSA Unsafe Driving Measure as an indicator for its program success in reducing driver distraction, managing speeding, obeying traffic conditions, and decreasing seat belt violations. With its unique open-platform approach, SmartDrive captures the broadest spectrum of risk in the industry, which enabled Bozzuto's to achieve an immediate improvement in safety while also continuing to deliver results in the second and third years of the program – a key factor for the renewal.

Halpin added, "The results of our program are positively impacting our fleet operations and have significantly lowered crash rates. We are able to better serve our customers, ensuring on-time and predictable deliveries that are executed safely and efficiently. It was a no-brainer to continue using SmartDrive as a component of our safety program."

During the first six months of deploying SmartDrive's video-based safety solution, Bozzuto's experienced a 53 percent reduction in CSA Unsafe Driving Measure—indicating a decrease in driver distraction and seat belt violations, as well as better speed management and adherence to traffic conditions. Over the lifetime of the program, Bozzuto's has seen a remarkable 95 percent reduction in CSA Unsafe Driving Measure.

"The results achieved by Bozzuto's are not unique," said Steve Mitgang, CEO of SmartDrive. "A key value of our platform is the ability to immediately lower risk and deliver sustained results that impact a fleet's bottom line throughout the program—not just in the first few months. We are proud of our partnership with Bozzuto's—a fleet that understands safety is an ongoing investment and a crucial part of its company culture."
