Renault set to dominate this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show with one world debut, one UK debut, and a surprise in the heavy vans category All-New Trafic to share the limelight with the striking Twizy Cargo Renault’s sizeable 10-vehicle indoor display to include All-New Trafic (panel and Crew Vans), Kangoo Van, Kangoo Van Z.E. and Twizy Cargo Outside the NEC, an exciting display is set to pull in the crowds

Europe’s largest van marque since 1998, Renault, will be laying down the gauntlet to its rivals at this year’s Commercial Vehicle Show, with its most high-profile presence ever. As part of its plans, the eagerly-awaited All-New Trafic will make its world debut, joined by the 100% electric Twizy Cargo attending its first UK vehicle show, plus, a surprise in the heavy vans category.

Renault – Stand F5120, Hall 5

From 29 April to 1 May, Renault will be showcasing its full line-up across 800 square metres, one of the largest stands at the show. For the first time in the UK, Renault will introduce its 'bump' stand design, raising the prominence of its launch products, making it a more open stand and allowing more space between exhibits. Outside the NEC Birmingham, the forward-thinking marque will also be looking to pull in the crowds with an exciting display to support the launch of its All-New Trafic.

World premiere of All-New Trafic

Having sold 1.6 million Trafics since 1980, including the first-generation developed solely by Renault, Birmingham plays host to the covers coming off of the third-generation. Launching in the UK later this year, All-New Trafic is available in a wide range of bodystyles, including two different heights, two different lengths, panel van, crew-van, platform cab and passenger versions, not to mention the solutions produced by approved converters and Renault Tech.

All-New Trafic is both flexible and economical thanks to its new range of downsized, turbocharged engines. They are based upon the latest-generation, Renault-developed 1.6 dCi unit and feature advanced technology to combine welcome fuel consumption savings with real driving enjoyment. This range is available in two versions: a single variable geometry turbo which yields 15% better fuel economy than the current model and a Twin-Turbo with combined fuel economy exceeding 47mpg*. These engines offer brisk pick-up and greater low-end torque for responsive acceleration, even when the vehicle is fully loaded.

Twizy Cargo – arguably the world’s coolest commercial vehicle

Arguably the most crowd-pleasing vehicle of the entire show will be the Twizy Cargo. A van like simply no other, order books are now open. Priced at £6,241.67 (£7,795 including VAT), the single seat electric compact is perfect for shorter journey business use, whether it’s urban, suburban or even rural.

Understandably, given its unique, eye-catching design, it also comes with the inherent benefit of being the perfect mobile advertising hoarding, with its sides and rear able to be decaled entirely according to customer preference.

Mechanically identical to a standard Twizy, the ‘Cargo’ model simply swaps the tandem rear seat for a 180-litre, 75kg boot with a lockable door. The conversion, undertaken by Renault Tech, has created a four-wheeled vehicle perfect for diverse uses ranging from support or maintenance vehicles at sites such as sport venues, right through to parts and pizza deliveries.

Twizy Cargo has a real-world range of around 50 miles and can be charged using the integrated charging cable, over a standard three-pin plug. Full charge takes only three and a half hours and costs less than a pound a time. Its low running costs, including reclaimable VAT on battery hire (from £30 per month including VAT) could save businesses hundreds of pounds per year

It’s also a doddle to get in and out of, especially as the driver can get in from either side and get on the move straight away, shaving even more time off multi-drop stops. With such diminuitive dimensions, it’s also easy to park, including perpendicular to the kerb. Plus, even with optional gullwing-style doors fitted, which raise vertically, Twizy Cargo can fit into the tightest of spots, without concern of catching vehicles parked next to it.

Kangoo Van range

Completing Renault’s high-profile line-up at this year’s CV Show will be two models in the Kangoo Van range, a Sport version and long-wheelbase 100% electric Maxi Z.E.
