MELBOURE – Feb 21, 2014: Australian automotive executive Richard Emery has been confirmed as the new Managing Director and CEO of Nissan Australia, effective 1 April 2014, the start of the 2014 fiscal year.

Richard Emery will take the reins at Nissan’s Australian and New Zealand operations from interim MD and CEO Peter Jones, who has steered the company’s ANZ operations following the departure of previous MD and CEO Bill Peffer, who returned to the USA late last year. During this time, Peter has managed the introduction of the Nissan JUKE, Altima and Pathfinder along with the Infiniti Q50 sedan and laid vital groundwork for Nissan’s sustainable growth plans both here and in New Zealand. Peter will continue responsibility for all operations until the end of the 2013 fiscal year, which is March 31.

Richard Emery brings to Nissan and Infiniti an impressive résumé of experience and achievements from almost 30 years in the automotive industry. His most recent role was General Manager of sales at Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific. Prior to this he held senior sales and marketing roles with Mitsubishi Motors in Australia and in Audi's operations in the Asia-Pacific region, specialising in the development of emerging markets. Richard continues a long family tradition in the automotive industry, with his family having run dealerships in provincial Victoria.

“I’m delighted to be joining the team at Nissan Australia,” Emery said.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to establish and implement a long-term plan to achieve solid success via sustainable growth for not only the Nissan and Infiniti brands but also the network of retailers who form the backbone of these marques in Australia. I firmly believe a car company is only as strong as its dealer network so this will be among my first areas of focus.

“I’m looking forward to working with the team and all of the Nissan and Infiniti retailer partners.”
