MELBOURNE – Jan 15, 2014: Mazda CX-5 is the nation’s ‘BEST BUY’ according to respected automotive website The Motor Report.

The Motor Report’s annual ‘BEST BUY AWARD 2013’recognises cars that are enjoyable to drive, have well-balanced and predictable driving dynamics, are comfortable and well-finished inside and out, offer outstanding value in features and performance and have been released in the preceding calendar year.

In what was an outstanding list of final contenders for the title of ‘BEST BUY’, the CX-5 met the criteria above all competition.

“In the strongest field of new car releases we’ve ever seen, Mazda’s CX-5 2.5 litre SKYACTIV stands tallest,” The Motor Report managing editor Tim O’Brien said.

“This is the car, above all new releases of 2013, we commend most strongly to car buyers in 2014.

“Few cars find the pulse of the Australian buyer quite like the Mazda CX-5. Quite simply, Mazda’s versatile CX-5 2.5 litre SKYACTIV wagon hits the bullseye.

“For what it offers ‘middle Australia’, this intelligently executed AWD wagon from Mazda is the best buy of the moment.

“We congratulate Mazda and Mazda Australia for giving Australian car buyers this profoundly worthy winner in a very strong field.

“We are proud to award Mazda’s CX-5 2.5 litre SKYACTIV AWD wagon TMR’s 2013 ‘BEST BUY AWARD’ of 2013.”

It’s been an award winning year for CX-5 with both petrol and diesel variants winning top awards over the last few months.

Joining CX-5 2.5 litre SKYACTIV-G as an industry preferred ‘best buy’ was the CX-5 Maxx Sport with 2.2 litre SKYACTIV-D diesel engine which took out Drive.com.au’s ‘Car of the Year’ for ‘Best SUV under $40,000’ – an award it has won for two consecutive years.

“CX-5 is the country’s number one SUV, so Australian buyers obviously agree with The Motor Report’s assessment as a ‘Best Buy’,” said Mazda Australia managing director Martin Benders.

“It’s a great product that has also been supported extremely well by our dealer network since launch.

“Mazda’s focus is on style, safety, technology and driving satisfaction, it is wonderful that this vision has been recognised, we are thrilled to have won this great award.”

Mazda CX-5 set a number of new records in 2013. It eclipsed its 2012 record year of 15,861 sales with 20,129 in 2013 – up by 27 per cent – and it was the nation’s favourite SUV.
