Hyundai Finishes 2013 On A High

SYDNEY – Jan 7, 2014: Hyundai Motor Company Australia has finished 2013 in fourth position in the overall sales ranking, with a record 97,006 units sold and 8.5% market share. Hyundai also finished in second place for the year in Passenger car sales, ahead of Holden, Mazda and Ford, with 67,786 units sold equating to a 12% market share.

Overall for 2013, of the top six selling automotive brands in the Australian market, only Hyundai increased its sales year-on-year (6% sales growth). Furthermore of the top five selling brands, only Hyundai has demonstrated 5 years' consecutive volume growth.

December was Hyundai’s 19th consecutive month of year-on-year sales growth, achieving 7,747 units sold and 8% market share. Six Hyundai models achieved podium results in December with both i20 and ix35 leading the Light Car and Small SUV segments respectively, while iLoad, iMax and Veloster all finished second in their respective segments. The i30 finished third in small cars.

The ix35 finished the year dominating the Small SUV segment with a total of 19,098 units sold (an increase of 66.5% YOY) and a segment share of 27.5%. For total SUV sales the ix35 finished second behind the Mazda CX-5, which is classified as a Medium SUV.

Hyundai also finished 2013 in first position in the Light Car segment, with a combination of i20 (14,100 units) and Accent (5,937 units). Veloster, iMax and iLoad all ranked second for their respective segments for the year.
