EMERYVILLE, CA--Dec. 11, 2013: Gracenote, the leader in music recognition technology, announced that it is integrating its technology and music metadata into its 50 millionth car this month. For more than ten years, Gracenote has worked with automakers and suppliers to pioneer in-car entertainment, starting with first generation audio systems which were able to identify and rip CDs, to delivering metadata and Cover Art, one-touch playlisting and "hands-free" voice playback of music.

Today, Gracenote helps millions of drivers identify, discover and connect with the songs and artists they love across leading automotive platforms, from Ford Sync and Chevy MyLink to Toyota Entune and Hyundai BlueLink. The Gracenote automotive platform is supported by its industry standard music recognition technology and an expert editorial team that understands the unique musical needs and tastes of car buyers all over the world.

"This is an important milestone for Gracenote, but is also significant for the broader music industry," said Stephen White, president of Gracenote. "Our technology and data power in-car entertainment experiences in virtually every region of the world and point to a larger trend of car owners wanting smart, connected systems on the road. Our goal is to provide a future-proof platform that delivers on the promise of today's infotainment systems, and is also well positioned for tomorrow's entertainment needs."

With an eye on the future, Gracenote has already begun developing the next-generation infotainment system centered on the connected car and driver personalization. This will enable automakers to offer next-generation capabilities, such as linking to a desired Cloud music service, and identifying and adapting to a driver's listening behavior, musical tastes and listening context for a safer and more customized experience.

Gracenote will be previewing its next-generation infotainment capabilities during CES 2014 in Las Vegas.
