Mears Transportation - a Leader in Luxury Airport Transportation - Awarded Certification for Sustainable Transportation

ORLANDO, FL--Dec. 9, 2013: Mears Transportation -- the leader in luxury airport transportation -- announced it has been awarded the Certification of Sustainable Transportation (CST) by the University of Vermont, achieving an eRating for its fleet of more than 225 motor coaches. As part of its comprehensive environmental policy, Mears Transportation added this program to its training practices and motor coach operators are now certified in both "Idle Free Driving and Eco-Driving."

To be eligible for the certification, companies must meet strict criteria related to greenhouse gas emissions per passenger mile, fuel type, carbon offsets and driver training programs. Motor coach operators must complete a course in Eco-Driving and "Idle-Free Driving" to reduce fuel consumption and vehicle idle times.

The Certification for Sustainable Transportation's (CST) was founded in 2012 to help improve economic, environmental, and energy efficiency within the passenger transportation sector. The CST is a direct outgrowth of work that began at the University of Vermont in 2005 which now houses the eRating certification, driver trainings and an array of awareness and education programs.
