ZETLAND, AUSTRALIA – Dec 4, 2013: The incredible Audi R8 V10 plus has been recognised as the Best Supercar of 2013 by Top Gear Australia magazine.

In describing his experience behind the wheel of the fastest production model in the Audi range, Editor Tim Keen said: “There’s no other supercar we’ve driven this year that leaves you feeling so confident, no matter what the road, no matter what the conditions.”

“We are delighted that the new Audi R8 V10 plus has been recognised by Top Gear Australia magazine as the Best Supercar of 2013,” said Audi Australia’s Managing Director, Andrew Doyle.

“The Audi R8 has it all: superb performance, incredible dynamics and striking design. It is everything you could possibly want in an everyday supercar,” said Mr Doyle.

The Audi R8 V10 plus is powered by a hand-built 5.2-litre V10 FSI engine that develops an astonishing 404kW and 540Nm. Mated to a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission that delivers lightning-fast gear shifts, the R8 V10 plus reaches 100km/h from standstill in just 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 317 km/h. Accordingly, the R8 V10 plus takes its place at the very pinnacle of Audi performance, as the fastest production vehicle in the range.

The R8 embodies Audi's full expertise in ultra-lightweight design. The aluminium body with the Audi Space Frame (ASF) weighs only 210 kilograms, meaning the R8 V10 plus tips the scales at just 1,570 kilograms.

The December issue of Top Gear Australia magazine is on newsstands now.
