SYDNEY – Nov 19, 2013: Mazda6 has been awarded the prestigious ‘Judge’s Choice’ at Australia’s Best Cars 2013 and was also recognised as the country’s ‘Best Medium Car’ under $50,000.

Launched last December, Mazda6 incorporates the stylish ‘KODO – Soul of Motion’ design language, it has the full suite of SKYACTIV Technologies and features i-ELOOP – Mazda’s unique brake energy regeneration system.

Australia’s Best Cars 2013 is run by the nation’s peak motoring organisation – the Australian Automobile Association (AAA) - on behalf of the Royal Automobile Club of Victoria (RACV) and its equivalent motoring clubs in each State and Territory.

Judges evaluate vehicles across a range of categories and it is designed to assist new car buyers with their choices and to set the standard for new vehicles on the market.

Based on value for money, design and function and on the road performance, Mazda6 Touring was a clear winner in the ‘Best Medium Car under $50,000’ category and stood out ahead of every other car released over the last 12 months in winning the 'Judges’ Choice’.

“Winner of the Best Medium Car Under $50,000, the Mazda6 Touring, was also recognised as the ‘Judges’ Choice’ as it ticked all the boxes that make it a benchmark car in its class and will influence the direction of its competitors,” AAA chief executive Andrew McKellar said.

Mazda was delighted to win the ‘Judges’ Choice’, an award that Australia’s Best Cars says ‘recognises an affordable vehicle that has made the greatest contribution to the Australian market or is deemed by the judges as the stand-out winner either through its technology, safety, innovation or ability to meet or exceed consumer expectation’.

“Of all the awards it is the Australia’s Best Cars ‘Judges’ Choice’ that acknowledges the passion and excitement that great cars generate,” Mazda Australia director of marketing Alastair Doak said.

“Mazda always strives to inject passion, innovation and creativity into all of its products, so it’s great to see the Mazda6, and Mazda’s engineers and designers, rewarded for this effort.”

Mazda6 has also recently won Japan’s prestigious RJC ‘Car of the Year’, and American publication Popular Mechanics also voted the popular mid-size as its ‘Car of the Year’.
