SYDNEY – Oct 3, 2013: Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) has set a new import September sales record, achieving its best September result since 2008.

According to official VFACTS figures releases today, MMAL sold 5,993 cars in September, to become the sixth highest selling brand in the country with 6.5 per cent share, while year-to-date MMAL is ranked 7th with 6.4 per cent market share.

Year-to-date, MMAL passenger car sales increased 52 per cent compared to the same period in 2012 thanks to strong performances from Lancer (1,412 sales) and Mirage (592 units).

September was also a record month for ASX sales (846 units) following 2014 model year updates that added reversing sensors with rear camera as a standard feature on all models and a new 2.2-litre diesel with automatic transmission to the range.

MMAL import’s record September gives the company a YTD sales tally of 54,603, which is 22.9 per cent higher than sales recorded during the same period in 2012.

Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited Director of Sales Greg Cook said the record September result is very encouraging and underlines the company’s steady progress since moving to an import business model in 2008.

“We’re really proud of our performance this year and our sales from January to September reflect the momentum we’re building by offering high quality, well equipped products with outstanding value for money,” he said.

“Our focus on strong value has been recognised by well-respected organisations like NRMA which recently named Mirage as the least expensive car to run and own of 1,800 vehicles, while Wheels magazine rated Mirage and ASX 2.2-litre diesel ahead of the competition for their efficiency, low running costs and strong resale value.”
