ATLANTA--Sept. 19, 2013: Hunger continues to have an impact on residents throughout the country - nearly one in six people in the United States experiences hunger and rely on local community food banks for food each week, according to Feeding America. Throughout the past few weeks, AutoTrader Group employees teamed up to help "Drive Away Hunger." The second annual Drive Away Hunger campaign, which aimed to collect food for local food banks in communities across the United States, collected more than 33,000 pounds of food and AutoTrader Group donated more than $67,000.

Community food banks across the country continue to report a rise in demand for food and a struggle to meet the need at a time when support – particularly from government sources – is declining. AutoTrader Group saw this need last year and created the Drive Away Hunger program to help fill that critical gap.

"At AutoTrader Group we are committed to serving the communities in which we live and work," said AutoTrader.com Director of Community Relations Michele Blondheim. "Together, we are proud of the raised awareness and how much food and funds were donated from the Drive Away Hunger program and we look forward to continuing to create impactful and engaging ways to support this important cause."

Now in its second year, the campaign surpassed last year's donation by almost 10,000 pounds of food. AutoTrader Group donated two dollars to Feeding America food banks for every pound of food donated by the AutoTrader Group employees.
