SYDNEY – Sept 5, 2013: Fiat Chrysler Group in Australia has recorded its highest monthly sales result in history during August, up 503 units or 17.4 per cent over the previous record high achieved in June 2013.

Total Fiat Chrysler Group sales during August of 3,401 vehicles represented an increase of 1,191 units, or 53.9 per cent, compared to the same month last year, while year-to-date sales are up by 6,064 units or almost 42 per cent.

The Group has now produced 28 consecutive months of year-on-year sales growth, driven primarily by the Chrysler Jeep Dodge brands, but also underpinned by 10 consecutive months of consistent improvement by the Fiat and Alfa Romeo brands, which have now registered three months in a row of record sales volumes – June 2013 (614 units), July 2013 (788 units) and August 2013 (962 units).

“Despite an extremely competitive marketplace, all six brands in the Fiat Chrysler Group stable have performed exceptionally well during August, posting a number of record results and generating continued growth for our business,” said Veronica Johns, CEO and President Fiat Chrysler Group Australia.

“Of the 16 individual model lines currently on the market across the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Fiat, Fiat Professional and Alfa Romeo brands, 11 are tracking at record high levels on a year-to-date basis, so we are well placed for another record year and continuing to work hard to support our growing dealer network with a range of well-equipped, well-positioned vehicles that customers want.”

Jeep set an all-time sales record during August after delivering 2,045 vehicles to new customers – the first time more than 2,000 units have been sold in a single month. Grand Cherokee lead the way with 1,319 vehicle sales, which was another record result, to take top spot as the No. 1 selling Large SUV in Australia for the second month in a row.

Fiat continued the trend for record sales results with another all-time high of 591 sales, which is the first time the brand has exceeded 500 units in a single month, buoyed by record 500/Abarth sales of 310 vehicles, representing the first time the iconic Italian small car line has achieved in excess of 300 units.

Sales of Fiat passenger and Fiat Professional commercial vehicles are up by 1,745 units to date in 2013, which is an increase of 206 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Alfa Romeo also recorded its highest ever monthly sales total with 371 Alfa vehicles finding new homes during August, which was the second consecutive month the Italian brand has reported sales in excess of 300 units, courtesy of a record 324 Giulietta registrations.

Growth across the Chrysler portfolio has also continued with total sales year-to-date up by 1,400 units off the back of a full year of 300 sales – during August 235 units of the large sedan were sold, up 33.5 per cent compared to August 2012.
