SOUTHFIELD, MI--August 12, 2013: Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton has announced that Chief Scientist Dr. Haoran Hu was elected a Fellow by SAE International for his career achievements. This is the highest grade of membership awarded by SAE, which is a global association of more than 138,000 engineers and related technical experts in the aerospace, automotive and commercial vehicle industries.

SAE names an average of 20 new Fellows worldwide per year. The 18-year-old program recognizes individuals for outstanding engineering, scientific and leadership accomplishments that have resulted in meaningful advances in automotive, aerospace and commercial vehicle technologies.
"We're proud that such a prestigious engineering group has recognized Haoran's achievements by naming him an SAE Fellow," said Eaton Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Ramanath Ramakrishnan.
Dr. Hu has long been an active member in SAE. Last year, he co-authored SAE's book entitled Advanced Hybrid Powertrains for Commercial Vehicles, and he received the 1999 SAE Arch T. Colwell Merit Award for an SAE paper.

Dr. Hu, who has more than 20 years of experience in research and development of internal combustion engines and vehicle powertrains, joined Eaton in 2002 and was named the company's Engineer of the Year in 2005.
During his career, which also includes engineering leadership positions at Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel and Jacobs Vehicle Systems, Dr. Hu has been awarded 31 U.S. patents in the fields of internal combustion engines and systems, hybrid powertrains, fuel cells and vehicle system controls.
