MELBOURNE – Aug 5, 2013: All-time record sales of Fiat and Alfa Romeo vehicles during July, along with all-time record sales of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, have underpinned another exceptional sales month for the Fiat Chrysler Group in Australia.

Three consecutive months of record Fiat vehicle registrations have culminated in an all-time record tally of 468 units during July, while year-to-date figures show almost three times the number of Fiats have been sold (2,001 vehicles) compared to the same period last year (704 vehicles) and there is still five months left to run in 2013.

Alfa Romeo also recorded its highest ever monthly sales total with 320 Alfa vehicles finding new homes this month, which was the first time in the history of the Italian brand in Australia that in excess of 300 sales had been achieved – the previous best month was 275 sales in September 2001.

Jeep continued to post strong results on the back of an all-time record month of Grand Cherokee sales following the introduction of the new MY14 WK model, with the July figure of 1,196 units representing the first time more than 1,000 units had been sold in a single month.

The record Grand Cherokee result also saw it take the No. 1 spot for the month as the top-selling Large SUV, the first time it has achieved this feat, after outselling its nearest competitor by well over 100 units for a 14.5 per cent share of the segment.

“Since we took over the distribution of Fiat and Alfa Romeo vehicles last year, our entire team has been working extremely hard integrating the Italian brands into our existing business and revitalising the vehicle line-ups with fresh models that are more affordable and accessible for customers,” said Veronica Johns, CEO and President Fiat Chrysler Group Australia.

“So it’s particularly pleasing to see that effort being rewarded with record sales of Fiat and Alfa Romeo vehicles, along with continued growth across our other brands such as Jeep, which has just set a new record for Grand Cherokee sales and claimed top spot as the No. 1 Large SUV for the month, which is the perfect way to launch a new model.”

The recently expanded 500 range led the way for Fiat this month with 236 sales, which represented another all-time record for the brand as well as a massive 774 per cent improvement on the July 2012 result.

Since the refreshed Fiat 500 range was launched in late May, year-on-year sales have increased by more than 300 per cent as the new model line-up and affordable pricing structure, which starts from just $14,000 drive-away for the Pop manual, has struck a chord with new car buyers.

Both the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and MiTo models also set new all-time sales record during July, with the recently updated Giulietta range registering 241 sales, a 60 per cent improvement on the previous best month of June 2013, while MiTo posted 75 sales, up 83 per cent on its previous best of 41 units in September 2009.

Combined year-to-date sales across all of the Fiat Chrysler Group brands of 17,166 vehicles represents an improvement of almost 40 per cent (4,873 vehicles) compared to the same period last year, while as a single business unit the Group is sitting in 12th position overall for total sales volume.
