LUTON, UNITED KINGDOM – July 12, 2013: Today, Vauxhall Motors adds the highly coveted ISO22301 Business Continuity Management Standard certification from the British Standards Institute (BSI) to its portfolio. In a world first for the automotive industry, the registration moves the British manufacturer into an exceptional position within the sector having already achieved two significant awards – Britain’s Top Employer and Investors in People.

ISO 22301 is a perfect fit with the Vauxhall Motors brand and organisation, reflecting its high standards of responsibility and reliability across its products and services. As such, accredited certification is awarded to organisations with high level measures and processes in place to ensure continuity of supply in adverse situations such as natural disasters and even minor incidents such as ice and snow blocking local road networks.

To gain the ISO 22301 Certification, Vauxhall Motors had to implement rigorous measures and processes throughout the organisation, involving employees, external stakeholders and interested parties across the Vauxhall sites. The ISO 22301 Certification also supports all GMUK sites including Chevrolet UK HQ in Luton.

Phil Millward, Human Resources Director, Vauxhall Motors, said: "The process of preparing for ISO 22301 Certification has been comprehensive, detailed and robust. The team has devoted many hours to planning, coaching and driving successful implementation of the plan. I'm proud to say that everyone has joined with enthusiasm resulting in this outstanding achievement. This brings yet another example of best practice to Vauxhall Motors."

James Taylor, Vauxhall’s Fleet Sales Director, said: "We have seen in the recent past many customers, competitors and suppliers impacted by incidents and natural disasters. The ISO 22301 Certification allows Vauxhall to give its customers comfort and reassurance. Through the robust processes in place we can continue to provide product and service supply continuity in the unlikely event of an incident. As the first auto manufacturer to achieve this globally, it gives us a real competitive advantage."

Lorna Anderson, BSI Global Business Continuity Product Technical Manager, said: “BSI is delighted to have been able to award ISO 22301 certification to Vauxhall. This represents a culmination of their expertise and focus on customer satisfaction and demonstrates their preparedness to respond should the worst happen.”
