Iconic Ferraris To Be Displayed Together For The First Time In History At The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering
Event to Showcase One-off Ferraris, Notable Porsche 911, and Celebrate 100 Years of Aston Martin
CARMEL, CA--July 8, 2013: The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering will make history this year as two famous Ferraris, never before shown together, will be on display at the 11th annual event on August 16, 2013. Additionally, a collection of the world's rarest Ferraris, the marque's first road car, an immaculately restored Porsche 911 and a special anniversary collection of Aston Martins will be showcased at the newly renovated and re-opened Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel Valley, California. The event takes place during Monterey Car Week, and will feature more than 150 noteworthy vehicles.
"For the first time, James Glickenhaus' 2006 Ferrari P 4/5 by Pininfarina and 2009 Ferrari P 4/5 Competizione will be shown side-by-side at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering," said Gordon McCall, Director of Motorsports. "This momentous occasion is a testament to The Quail's significance in the motorsports world, and we're honored to be a part of the marque's history."
In 2006, James Glickenhaus commissioned Pininfarina to build a one-off motorcar on a new Ferrari Enzo chassis that would pay homage to his 1967 Ferrari P 3/4 chassis #0846, the result was the Ferrari P 4/5 by Pininfarina. The P 4/5 Competizione was built in 2011 to contest the 24 Hours of Nurburgring for Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, where it finished second in class. In 2012, it was modified with Kinetic Energy Recovery System and contested the 2012 24 Hours of Nurburgring where it finished first in class and won the 2012 FIA Alternate Energy Cup.
Only 232 examples of the iconic first-year Porsche 911 were built in 1964. It is believed that just 62 intact cars remain. Fewer still have dozens of pre-and early-production 1964-only idiosyncratic details exhibited on this car, chassis #133. Subject of a no-expense spared 2013 restoration by marque expert Dave DiMaria, it is among the most correct on the planet.
The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering 2013 will celebrate 100 Years of Aston Martin and feature a Retrospect of Automobili Lamborghini Celebrating 50 Years, as well as Peter Brock Designs. Additionally, A Tribute to the California Mille in Honor of Martin Swig will commemorate California's homage to Italy's historic Mille Miglia and its legendary founder.
The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering has grown to be one of the most intimate celebrations of the luxury motoring lifestyle, with exclusive, limited admission. Ticketholders enjoy unparalleled access to a rare array of the finest automobiles from around the world, together with world-class cuisine, wine and spirits, all presented in a garden-party setting on the sun-drenched fairways of Quail Lodge & Golf Club.
The cuisine and refreshments served at the event will be every bit as magnificent as the motorcars on display. Guests will be taken on an epicurean journey at six signature culinary pavilions featuring cuisines from around the world paired with fine wines from local vineyards. Guests will be invited to "look the part," in Panama hats designed by legendary fashion designer Oscar de la Renta exclusively for The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering.
