Ford utilities make unprecedented gains in critical markets
Ford made a bet with its One Ford plan and now it's paying off. The company is leading a major global shift to fuel-efficient and functional utility vehicles, growing its sales in the last five years faster than any of its other vehicle segments and faster than the industry average. Led by the global launch of EcoSport and Escape/Kuga, Ford is expected to outpace industry growth over the next five years.
Ford uses 3D imaging to make trucks tougher, quieter
Ford engineers are using 3D mapping in what is believed to be the technology's first application in the auto industry to better analyze rear axle parts of F-Series pickups during assembly, leading to a smoother, quieter ride for drivers. Serious sustainability: Fusion takes Ford's use of recycled material
in fabric global
Ford Fusion is the first global vehicle program from any automaker to use seat fabric made from recycled material, with the potential to recycle enough plastic bottles and post-industrial waste to make 1.5 million yards of fabric annually. That's equivalent to between 800,000 and 900,000 yards in North America when Fusion is in full production.
