WASHINGTON, May 21, 2013 -- Sheehy Auto Stores, Inc. is in full gear as the 16th Annual Sheehy 5000 is underway through July 8.  The Sheehy 5000 is a 50-day dealership and communitywide effort to sell 5000 automobiles while raising awareness and money to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation's Race for the Cure.  This year's fundraising goal is to bring Sheehy's total cumulative contributions to the Race for the Cure to $1 million.

"We anticipate this year's campaign being a milestone year as we strive for Sheehy's total contributions to this cause to reach one million dollars," said Neil Desmond, Operations Manager for Sheehy Auto Stores.  "In addition to having a dealershipwide goal of selling 5000 cars in 50 days, we are planning regional community outreach and fundraising events to help raise awareness and money for the fight against breast cancer."

To kick off the campaign, more than 300 Sheehy employees recently participated in two Race for the Cure events.  The momentum continues over the next 50 days with community events at Sheehy dealerships throughout Washington, D.C.; Richmond, VA and Baltimore, MD.  Some highlights include:
