MILTON KEYNES, UNITED KINGDOM – May 20, 2013: Evans Halshaw, the UK’s largest volume car retailer and part of the Pendragon automotive retail group, has opened its first ever SEAT dealership, in Harrogate.

The new showroom not only puts SEAT on the map in the North Yorkshire town, quite literally – it has boosted the local economy with the creation of six new jobs, of a total staff of 28.

The new Dealership has enough floor space for 80 used cars in addition to the full array of new SEAT models, including the stunning new Leon five-door hatchback and, soon, the sleek new three-door Leon SC.

Evans Halshaw SEAT in Harrogate becomes the latest SEAT dealership in the UK, with the brand embarking upon ambitious plans to expand its dealer network and broaden its reach in the UK.

“This new partnership with Pendragon PLC is testament to the strength of SEAT's growth in the UK. With the fantastic new Leon driving record sales results, SEAT is increasingly attracting the best dealer investors in the industry,” enthuses Ashley Andrew, SEAT UK Head of Operations.

Trevor Finn, Chief Executive at Pendragon PLC, says: “This new partnership is greatly important to our company. As Evans Halshaw has a long heritage in Yorkshire, it’s the perfect starting opportunity to build our relationship with SEAT and its award-winning cars.”

Nina Douglas, Dealer Principal at Evans Halshaw Harrogate, says: “We are very confident that this new dealership will be successful, and already there has been plenty of interest shown in the excellent deals available on SEAT’s award-winning cars.”

SEAT truly is a brand on the rise. In 2012 the company enjoyed its fourth consecutive year of sales rises, with 38,798 cars registered, representing a company record 1.9% share of the UK market.

And in 2013 SEAT is well on course to beat 2012’s sales tally, having achieved 3,983 sales in April alone – its biggest April since the Spanish company began its UK operations in 1985, and a 33% improvement over April 2012.

SEAT’s range of cars now comprises Mii, Ibiza five-door, Ibiza SC, Ibiza ST, Toledo, Leon five-door, Leon SC, Altea, Altea XL and Alhambra. The Leon family is set to expand at the end of the year with the arrival of the Leon ST estate car.

Prior to that, the recently unveiled three-door Leon SC will begin appearing in UK showrooms, around July time. Priced from just £15,370, order books are open now on a car with very nearly all the practicality of its five-door namesake, but re-styled for a more coupé-like appearance.
