LUTON, UNITED KINGDOM – May 9, 2013: Linda Gallon from Stoke-on-Trent thought it was an April Fools’ Day joke when she got a message to call someone from The Sun about having won a car in a competition run by the newspaper.

But this was no joke, as she found out when she collected her prize - a 2.0-litre turbo diesel four-wheel drive SsangYong Korando SX worth over £19,000 - from her local SsangYong dealer, Platts Garage at Lightwood Road, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent.

“It was totally unexpected and I’m over the moon,” said Mrs Gallon, who was joined by her husband and granddaughter at the dealership. “I entered the competition and then thought no more about it until I got the message, but the timing was perfect as we had just decided it was time to change our old Honda CRV for a newer car.”

SsangYong had run the promotion in partnership with The Sun, featuring a number of well-known personalities that included model Melinda Messenger, Tommy Walsh from TV’s Groundforce, rock star Alex James, and racehorse trainer, David Pipe.

David Marshall, general manager of Platts Garage and Jeff Lau, dealer commercial manager of SsangYong Motor UK, were on hand to greet Mr & Mrs Gallon, and present them with their prize.

Platts Garage has been a SsangYong dealer since 2005.
