The VACC Automotive Design Awards – Your Ticket to an Overseas Experience of a Life Time
MELBOURNE – May 8, 2013: VACC has announced a new overseas scholarship for one lucky automotive designer.
The Australian Overseas Foundation (AOF)/VACC Automotive Design Awards Scholarship will be awarded to a tertiary level entrant to the 2013 VACC Automotive Design Awards and announced on 20 June at Federation Square. Supported by the Victorian Government, the VACC Automotive Design Awards is an automotive design competition for secondary and tertiary Victorian students, challenged with designing, making models and writing essays on the vehicles of tomorrow. The event is also supported by local manufacturers, Ford, Holden and Toyota.
The scholarship will be managed by the AOF which every year provides funds for young trades men and women to go abroad to learn more about their chosen career and gain valuable life experiences.
“Victoria is the home of Australia’s automotive design industry and local designers are responsible for some of the world’s most popular vehicles. The scholarship is available to tertiary level entrants only of the design competition and is a wonderful opportunity for a Victorian student to travel overseas and learn more about automotive design,” VACC Executive Director, David Purchase, said.
“We thank the Victorian Government for sponsoring this award and for promoting automotive design and with it, the wider automotive industry.
“We also thank the Australian Overseas Foundation for providing their services and facilitating the scholarship. This is a good example of government, partners and the automotive industry cooperating and working together to enhance skills and career opportunities for young Victorians, which can only benefit local employers and our community,” Mr Purchase said.
