LONDON – April 25, 2013: Great Escape Classic Car Hire has extended its network of sites with a new branch in Devon, close to Exeter. The new location gives enthusiasts and tourists a choice of six mainly British classic cars to drive around the region’s beautiful coastline and countryside.

The new Devon site represents a £150,000 investment in the region across staff, cars and office set up. It is conveniently located with easy access from the M5 for customers who are visiting the region or live locally. To launch the new site Great Escape has invested in a range of popular classic cars including Jaguar Mk2, MGB, E Type Jaguar, Jensen Interceptor, VW Beetle convertible and Morris Minor and plans to extend the fleet once the site is established, as it has done with its other UK sites.

Hiring a car from the Devon site is a useful alternative for classic car enthusiasts who are travelling to the region but don’t want to put unnecessary miles on their own car, or local people who are looking for a hassle-free alternative to owning their own classic car.

The new Devon site complements Great Escape’s existing main sites in Yorkshire and the Cotswolds, as well as its network of smaller sites spread around the country. Great Escape hopes to capitalise on booming demand for classic cars due to ‘staycationing’ and self-drive wedding car hire.

Great Escape has recruited local man Steve Day to run the site. Steve is a leading light in the local Crashbox Car Club and his local knowledge has already helped Great Escape develop its website to include a lot of local information to assist customers, including links to accommodation, places to visit and places to eat.

“Classic car hire is a growing market because more and more people are realising that it adds a new dimension to their holiday or is a much simpler alternative to ownership,” explains Graham Eason of Great Escape, “Devon is the obvious place for us to set up a new site because it is such a popular holiday destination.

“We have set up the site with our most popular cars and we plan to extend the fleet as we have done with our other sites. We have already begun to build relationships with other local tourism partners and we are keen to develop that further.

“We want to be make a positive contribution to the region and will be offering customers driving routes as well as short break packages across Devon and Cornwall involving accommodation and a guide to places to visit."

Great Escape Classic Car Hire was founded in 2006 and is the UK’s largest classic car hire company with a choice of 80 classic cars to hire from 11 convenient UK locations, plus sites in Italy and France. Standard self-drive hire for other Great Escape cars starts at just £95/day.
