MULGRAVE, AUSTRALIA – April 8, 2013: The new BMW M6 Gran Coupé becomes the third distinctive design to be added to the M6 model range. The newest member of the M6 family brings together BMW’s acclaimed M performance characteristics with extra luxury and aesthetic appeal.

BMW Group Australia managing director, Phil Horton, said the M6 Gran Coupé adds extra appeal and versatility to the M6 range.

“The M6 Gran Coupé combines ground breaking acceleration and dynamics with the real- world usability of a four-door vehicle, creating a truly versatile yet inspiring and elegant supercar,” Mr Horton said.

Under the bonnet of the BMW M6 Gran Coupé is the familiar M TwinPower Turbo high-revving V8 engine found in the vehicle’s two-door siblings. This powerplant develops 412 kW of power and an impressive 680 Nm of torque to give the BMW M6 Gran Coupé its true supercar performance characteristics, propelling it from 0 – 100 km/h in a blistering 4.2 seconds.

The precise interplay of the high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, a seven-speed M Double Clutch transmission with Drivelogic, Active M differential, model-specific M tuned chassis technology, optimised aerodynamic properties and the weight balance all combine to serve up the characteristically unique M driving experience.

Average fuel consumption is 9.9 litres per 100 kilometres and CO2 emissions are 232 grams per kilometre in the EU test cycle thanks in part to the intelligent use of lightweight materials including the Carbon fibre roof.

The specification for the M6 Gran Coupé differs slightly from the Coupé model due to the addition of the two-plus-one rear seats.

To cater for the comfort of the rear passengers the M6 Gran Coupé is equipped with a four- zone climate control system and roller sunblinds for the rear windscreen and rear side windows.

Further points of differentiation include exclusive 20-inch M light-alloy wheels, an Alcantara roofliner featuring a centre section in leather, as well as a carbon fibre made rear diffusor which optimises the airflow along the cars underbody. The BMW M6 Gran Coupe will be available from BMW dealerships nationally from $299,500.
