TOKYO, JAPAN – April 4, 2013: Record sales of Subaru’s XV All-Wheel Drive boosted the brand’s monthly total to a new high of 4219 vehicles in March, according to official VFACTS figures released today.

The new total figure eclipses the previous monthly record of 4116 sales, established in June 2008.

Subaru’s market share for March was 4.3 per cent.

XV was the star performer for Subaru, with 1567 sales – up 56.4 per cent over March last year. XV sales are also up 18.5 per cent year-to-date (YTD). It was the month’s best-seller in its segment (SUV Small Less Than $40,000).

Impreza sales of 987 also put it 11 per cent up YTD, while Forester sales of 973 place it 22.4 per cent ahead YTD.

Subaru Managing Director, Nick Senior, said: “We’re delighted to establish a new record in a month when overall industry sales actually declined 0.2 per cent.

“The customer response to our new generation Subarus is tremendous and with the launch of our first automatic diesel, the Outback 2.0D CVT, we can see more potential as the year progresses.”
