VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA – Feb 26, 2013: Mazda’s top-selling CX-5 SUV is now even more powerful with the new SKYACTIV-G 2.5 litre petrol engine replacing the SKYACTIV-G 2.0 litre engine in All-Wheel Drive (AWD) Maxx, Maxx Sport and GT models.

The SKYACTIV-G 2.5 litre engine also makes its debut in the new range-topping CX-5 Akera which includes Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), High Beam Control (HBC) and Lane Departure Warning system (LDW) as standard features.

Recently introduced on All-New Mazda6, the SKYACTIV-G 2.5 litre petrol engine boasts an impressive 138kW of power and 250Nm of torque making it one of the best performing cars in the highly competitive medium SUV category.

Improved performance is also matched by excellent fuel economy with 2.5 litre CX-5 models returning 7.4 litres per 100 kilometres, a figure unmatched by other medium SUVs with a similar engine capacity.

Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) models also benefit from performance improvements with the updated SKYACTIV-G 2.0 litre petrol engine now delivering increased acceleration.

In further changes, BluetoothŽ has now been upgraded across all models. The new mail function enables SMS, MMS and email to show up on the large 5.8 inch touchscreen monitor with messages read out by an automated voice via Bluetooth connected smartphones. The address book now also holds up to 1000 contacts enabling calls to be made instantly by voice command.

The ability to replay, shuffle and switch folders via BluetoothŽ also continues.

New exterior colours have also been added to the CX-5 palette with Soul Red, Jet Black and Meteor Grey making their CX-5 debut replacing Velocity Red, Black Mica and Metropolitan Grey.

Prices for the CX-5 Maxx 2.5L start at $32,880 (MLP) with the range-topping petrol Akera priced at $45,770. Prices for diesel powered CX-5 models remain unchanged and are expected to continue to sell strongly.

The updated CX-5 range is now available from Mazda dealerships nationally.
