Subaru Rally Team Canada gains five-point lead in first event of the CRC season.
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Feb. 4, 2013; Subaru Canada, Inc. (SCI) is thrilled to announce Subaru Rally Team Canada's victory at Rallye Perce-Neige, held February 2 and 3, in Maniwaki, Quebec. Subaru Rally Team Canada driver Pat Richard and new co-driver Rob Fagg gained 22 points with a clean, trouble-free victory during the first event of the 2013 Canadian Rally Championship season.
The victory is especially noteworthy because Richard and co-driver Fagg only connected the day prior. Though Fagg has impressive titles under his belt across the pond in his native U.K., Rallye Perce-Neige was a stressful first Canadian competition under extremely icy conditions.
A measured, controlled approach under frosty conditions paid off for all three podium finishers as Subaru swept the podium and claimed seven spots in the top ten. Second place overall went to Steeve Hobbs and Jean Mathieu Tremblay in their 2010 Subaru WRX STI, while third overall was claimed by a 2005 Subaru WRX STI driven by Ugo Desgreniers and Erik Kirby.
"The car ran flawlessly," said Richard. "Now we have two wins in a row. This speaks volumes to the upgrades we made last year… The tides have turned. If we can keep going, it's going to be a fantastic year."
The Canadian Rally Championship continues with Rallye Baie des Chaleurs in New Richmond, Quebec, this June 29 and 30.
