Sorento Heavy Duty Towing Solution

SYDNEY – Jan 31, 2013: Kia Motors Australia has developed a heavy duty towing solution to give owners of the award-winning facelifted Sorento even greater opportunity to get the best from the best.

The towing capacities for vehicles are set around the capabilities of the vehicles and not the tow bar itself, often a cause for confusion when the down ball rating seems to belie the vehicle’s towing capacity.

To assist owners who need a serious down ball rating for a serious situation, Kia has developed an upgraded package which lifts the Sorento’s ball rating to 150kg.

Currently, the maximum down ball rating for these vehicles is 120kg and the maximum braked towing capacity is 2000kg for automatic and 2500kg for manual vehicles.

The new heavy duty tow package consists of the tow bar, trailer wiring harness, new rating labels and uprated rear suspension springs to cope with the increased down ball weight.

This heavy duty kit will allow for an increased maximum down ball weight of 150kg whilst the maximum braked towing capacity will remain the same at 2000kg for automatic and 2500kg for manual vehicles.

Available for both 2WD and 4WD variants, this solution will provide wider opportunity for those requiring that bit extra for their towing requirements.

Where customers have already purchased a genuine Kia tow bar with the 120kg down ball weight, this can now be up graded to the 150kg with the purchase of the uprated springs and labels kit.

In developing the heavy duty pack Kia Motors Australia has been careful not to impinge on the Sorento’s highly-praised locally-tuned ride and handling package.

The complete heavy duty pack of tow ball, trailer wiring harness, labels and rear suspension springs is available from genuine Kia dealerships for $977.34 plus fitting.

The conversion kit from a 120kg ball is $239.78 plus fitting.
