Stunning 'S-Code' Mustang in Shannons Melbourne Late Summer Auction

MELBOURNE – Jan 29, 2013: A stunning 1967 Ford Mustang GT Convertible fitted with the rare factory big-block 390-cid V8 СS-CodeТ engine and four-speed manual gearbox combination is a standout vehicle in Shannons Melbourne Late Summer Auction on February 18.

Pumping out 320HP (239kW) with a mountain of torque thanks in part to its huge four-barrel Holley 600-cfm carburettor, the Brittany Blue metallic MustangТs impressive specification also includes power front disc brakes, dual exhausts with chrome quad outlets and grille-mounted fog lamps that were part of the GT Equipment Group.

The left hand drive Mustang underwent a full professional restoration in the United States before being imported to Australia and offers the very desirable combination of СbeautyТ and СbeastТ at its expected selling range of $50,000-$58,000.

The S-Code Mustang is one of a number of special vehicles in the February 18 auction.

Other American beauties include a striking red with white scallops right hand drive 1958 Chevrolet Corvette C1 Convertible ($60,000-$68,000), a sought-after left hand drive 1964 Ford Thunderbird Convertible ($26,000-$32,000) and an enormous right hand drive 1966 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible ($24,000-$28,000).

From Germany there are four Mercedes-Benz models, topped by a very desirable 1969 model 280SL СPagodaТ convertible ($85,000-$100,000) and a limited edition 2002 SLK32 AMG Roadster ($30,000-$36,000).

From Britain there is beautifully-presented, very early-build 1959 Jaguar MkII 3.4 automatic saloon ($30,000-$38,000), a desirable 1971 Triumph TR6 Roadster ($20,000-$24,000), a two-owner, low kilometre 1998 Jaguar XK8 Convertible ($32,000-$38,000) and an imposing Bentley MkVI С4.5 litre Tourer StyleТ Special ($40,000-$50,000).

From Australia comes a sought-after 1986 Holden VL Commodore Group A SS HDT sedan ($42,000-$48,000), a two-owner and very original 1955 Holden FJ Utility that has spent most of its life in one family ($20,000-$25,000) and a beautifully-presented and rare 1968 Holden HK Brougham fitted with the desirable 307-cid V8 engine that is showing just 73,000 miles from new ($20,000-$24,000).

Finally, there are also some interesting no reserve lots, including a 1970 Citroen 2CV6 Charleston ($8,000-$12,000), a 1961 MGA MkI Roadster ($9,000-$12,000) and a 1981 V8-engined Porsche 928 ($8,000-$12,000).

However for many enthusiasts, the February 18 Melbourne auction will be a numbers game, with some great black and white Heritage plates on offer.

These include С347Т ($45,000-$60,000), the interesting three-digit plates С511Т, С611Т, С711Т and С811Т(all $40,000-$55,000), the numerically satisfying С5.115Т, С7.878Т and С9.191Т (all $14,000-$18,000) and Т56.789Т and Т10.002Та (both $10,000-$15,000).
