LONDON – Jan 18, 2013: Bilbo’s Celex LWB has been named the Campervan of the Year 2013 by Motorcaravan Motorhome Monthly (MMM), the UK’s best-selling motorhome magazine, and Which Motorhome, the UK’s number one magazine for motorhome testing, at their prestigious 2013 awards.

This is the second year running that MMM magazine has joined forces with Which Motorhome magazine to create one set of combined awards that recognise the best new campervans and motorhomes on sale in the UK.

The Motorhome Awards 2013 were sponsored by the Caravan Club and were held at the Luton Hoo Hotel on Wednesday 9th January, with dealers and manufacturers from the motorhome industry present.

Expert and experienced judges from the two magazines considered all the models new to the UK market or that have undergone significant design specification upgrades in the past 12 months.

To select a winner, the judges considered the functionality of the layout, the build quality and overall usability, as well as how the ‘van performs on the road and on the campsite, right through to whether it offers value for money.

Bilbo’s Celex LWB is a great example of a modern campervan and impressed the judges from MMM and Which Motorhome with its practical design and class-leading build quality. The long-wheelbase version provides generous living and storage space, while Bilbo’s seat/bed system and elevating roof are amongst the best in the business. Not only that, but all Bilbo’s campers now have European Whole Vehicle Type Approval.

The judging panel selected the Wheelhome Skurry as the runner-up in the Campervan of the Year category, while the Wellhouse Hyundai Bianco and Hillside Ellastone were nominated for consideration in this sector.

Head of the judging panel and editor of Which Motorhome, Peter Vaughan, commented: "Bilbo’s has been building VW campervans for 35 years and that experience shows, both in the quality of the designs and the class-leading build. You won’t find a better VW camper than this."

While Daniel Attwood, Managing Editor of MMM and Which Motorhome magazines, added: “These awards are the most important in the motorhome industry. This year, the judges were faced with a huge range of new campervans, but there was always only going to be one winner and it became clear very early in the judging that it was going to be the Bilbo’s. This is the best new campervan money can buy.”

MMMand Which Motorhome magazines recognise that the smaller the vehicle the more compromises there are. The best campervans offer acceptable levels of storage, comfort and practicality, but the judges were looking for a winner that goes that extra step and offers great on-site characteristics in a superb design that works perfectly in a compact area. Often these campervans double up as an everyday vehicle, so the judges also assessed the campervans’ on-road characteristics, seating capacity and driver and passenger comfort and safety.
