SYDNEY – Jan 9, 2013: Hyundai Motor Company Australia has donated $40,000 to the Kids Tennis Foundation, funds raised through the Hyundai Aces Programme which ran during the recent Hyundai Hopman Cup tournament in Perth.

For every ace served throughout the tournament, $100 was donated to the Kids Tennis Foundation. On-court leader boards tracked the tally, which would see 374 aces smashed and therefore $37,400 raised for the charity. Hyundai Motor Company Australia rounded up the amount to make the donation $40,000 for 2013, bringing the total raised for the foundation to $125,000.

The programme sees Hyundai support tennis at a grassroots level raising much needed funds for the Kids Tennis Foundation. Using tennis as a communication tool, the foundation helps develop self-esteem and self-confidence in children who are socially or financially disadvantaged, and whom otherwise may not get the chance to be involved in this great sport.

The Hyundai Hopman Cup celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2013, with the tournament held over the new year period. Played at the all-new sport and entertainment complex, Perth Arena, the Hyundai Hopman Cup was the first international sporting event to take place at the venue. Offering seating for 15,500 fans and a retractable roof, the Perth Arena is the official new home of the Hyundai Hopman Cup.

As one of Australia’s longest running sports sponsorships, Hyundai Motor Company Australia has been a proud sponsor of the Hyundai Hopman Cup tennis tournament since its inception in 1988, and official tournament ‘Title Sponsor’ since 1998.
