Henny Hemmes The Auto Channel's Senior European Editor Appointed World Car of the Year Jurist

AUTO CENTRAL - December 9, 2012: Henny Hemmes, The Auto Channel’s senior European editor, has been installed as a juror for the World Car Awards. The WCA is a program initiated by, organized by, and conducted by automotive journalists from all over the world for the election of the World Car of the Year (WCOTY).

Ms. Hemmes is an expert auto veteran, as both a journalist and a champion race driver, as well as senior European Editor here at The Auto Channel.

Besides being one of Europe’s most prolific and well-regarded autowriters, she can boast more than 20 years of experience as race driver, race-instructor and anti-skid instructor. Henny started racing in 1975 after winning a talent contest in Belgium. A year later she finished second in her first 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps. It was to be the first of many podium finishes during her career in long distance racing. She won the Dutch Championship twice (with Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (400 hp) and Ford Merkur Cosworth). Henny also works as test driver, automotive writer and photographer for many international automobile publications.

Henny is part of the 7-member international correspondent panel. In total, the judging panel consists of 64 international automotive journalists from all continents. The contest celebrated its inaugural year in 2005, Since 2006, the jurors also elect the World Car Design of the Year, the World Performance Car and the World Green Car.

Henny will publish her test drives and her evaluation of the contenders for the 2013 World Car Awards here on The Auto Channel, with the articles concerning nominees identified with the WCA/WCOTY logo.
