Dealership becomes first to deploy Solar Tree® array system; structure to reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions by equivalent of 2,500 gallons of gas

FREMONT, CA--Nov. 30, 2012: Envision Solar International, Inc. (EVSI), a leading sustainable infrastructure product designer and developer, will kick off a nationwide initiative with General Motors next month at the Fremont Cadillac Buick GMC location.

The dealership will be the first to deploy the company's Solar Tree® array and generate approximately 33,000 kWh of clean renewable energy from a highly architecturally accretive platform.

"We'll be implementing design enhancements provided by the Cadillac team to make the system uniquely theirs and supportive of the renowned car maker's brand in a very positive and aesthetically-pleasing way," said Desmond Wheatley, President and CEO at Envision Solar. "The Solar Tree® array installation is expected to be completed by early next year, so Fremont Cadillac Buick GMC will start accessing the energy by the first quarter of 2013. They will be the first dealership in the program which is very exciting."

The initiative will significantly lessen Fremont Cadillac Buick GMC's carbon footprint. The Solar Tree® array will create a reduction of the dealership's greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to more than 2,500 gallons of gas consumed or 52 barrels of oil per year. The carbon offset will be greater than that produced by five acres of pine forest or by diverting 8 tons of waste from a landfill. Fremont Cadillac Buick GMC's installation of the highly architected array will lower their environmental impact as well as improve the region's built environment.

"It's very exciting to be the first dealership to roll out this nationwide initiative," said Jessie Dosanjh, General Manager of Fremont Cadillac Buick GMC. "Deploying this beautiful and iconic renewable energy landmark reiterates that we understand the wants and needs of the people in the Bay Area and is another example of how we're fulfilling our commitment to the environment. We're proud to take on a leadership role in this movement and encourage other Cadillac dealerships in the country to do the same."

Equipped with integrated electric vehicle charging stations, the Solar Tree® array can generate enough renewable energy to completely charge six electric vehicles each day. Envision Solar's proprietary tracking system, EnvisionTrak--, causes the array to follow the sun capturing more of its energy and increasing electrical output by nearly 25 percent over typical fixed solar installations.

The Fremont Cadillac Buick GMC is located at 5939 Auto Mall Parkway, Fremont, Calif. 94538.
