Volkswagen teams up with the Wiggles to raise money for charity

SYDNEY - Nov 19, 2012: Volkswagen and The Wiggles are giving Australians the chance to share in a piece of their history and buy the Volkswagen Big Red Car in an auction that will raise funds for SIDS and Kids. All Australians will be able to bid for the chance to own the Big Red Car, a skivvy red Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet.

The Volkswagen Big Red Car auction will be live on eBay for ten days from December 7th, with the lucky new owner of the car announced ahead of The Wiggles’ final Sydney shows in their Celebration Tour.

Anthony Field, the Blue Wiggle, is excited about teaming up with Volkswagen in aid of SIDS and Kids.

“For us as a group, the next few months are about celebrating the great times we’ve shared with all of Australia and it’s great that together with Volkswagen, we have the opportunity to give our biggest fans the chance to own something that’s so special to us – the Volkswagen Big Red Car!

“Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is a cause that’s extremely close to our hearts, my neice Bernadette Field died from SIDS at the age of 8 months in 1988 and so SIDS and Kids is a charity that we’ve proudly supported since we started out 21 years ago. It’s only fitting that the money raised from this auction go directly to SIDS and Kids,” said Mr Field.
