Navistar's Regis Luther Awarded 2012 SAE Sid Olsen Engineering Executive Award

WARRENDALE, PA--Nov. 12, 2012: Regis Luther, Vice President of Military Products and initiatives portfolio planning and program management for Navistar Inc., has been named the recipient of the 2012 SAE International Sid Olsen Engineering Executive Award.

Luther was presented with the award at the 2012 SAE International Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress, held in Rosemont, Ill.

The Sid Olsen Award recognizes an outstanding engineering executive in the off-highway industry. Candidates are nominated by their employees, colleagues, supervisors, or the local SAE International Section, with the nomination supported by another individual from the same group (e.g. employees, colleagues, supervisor or SAE International Chapter). The award honors Sid A. Olsen, an SAE International Fellow and industry leader who actively supported and participated in leading industry activities. As part of the award, $1,000 was donated to a college of Luther's choice.  He chose his alma mater, Youngstown State.

In his role as Vice President of Military Products and Initiatives for Navistar Defense, Luther is responsible for implementing key defense upgrades into Navistar's military line of vehicles and working to further leverage the company's commercial product lines for military environments.

Prior to joining Navistar in 2009, Luther held various executive positions for BAE Systems, including Vice President of Engineering for Mobility & Protection Systems.

Luther graduated from Youngstown State University, earning his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. He received a master's in chemical engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and an Executive MBA with honors from the University of Houston. Luther completed the Project Management Program through the University of Houston, is a Certified CM Configuration Manager and is an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) recertified Truck Technician.
