ZETLAND, AUSTRALIA – Oct 25, 2012: Audi will sponsor a brand new drive-in cinema experience to be held at Carriageworks in Eveleigh, just three kilometres from the Sydney CBD. For four nights cinema-lovers will have the chance to experience the unique Downtown Drive-In season which runs from 29 November to 2 December 2012.

A seldom-used section of the 120-year-old heritage-listed Carriageworks building will form the perfect backdrop for Downtown Drive-In’s ‘Back Roads USA’ season of films which embraces a new release, a sentimental favourite and a lost classic of American cinema. Tickets will go on sale on Wednesday, 31 October and can be purchased at www.downtowndrive.in.

As part of the outdoor drive-in concept, which embraces modern technology, yet still offers a great retro experience, this unique cinema offering will feature exclusive ‘surround sound seating’ for guests in Audi vehicles, complete with Bang & Olufsen sound systems. Guests are able to book their seats in an Audi vehicle (up to 4 people per car) and watch the films in complete comfort.

Audi will also host an exclusive screening for customers on 2 December 2012.

Audi continues to be a driving force in the film arena in Australia, having announced a major sponsorship of Australian film festivals earlier this year (in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne), as well as a long-running association with the Audi Festival of German Films.

The program for Downtown Drive-In, driven by Audi:

New release (Thurs, 29 Nov): On The Road

Sentimental Favourite (Fri, 30 Nov): Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Lost classic (Sat, 1 Dec): Vanishing Point

The Downtown Drive-In will also feature a custom menu with individual items designed by The Dip, Sydney’s favourite American-style diner, playfully paying tribute to the films and shared Americana settings and atmosphere.

Entry into Downtown Drive-In will cost $50 for vehicles of up to four people. ‘Walk-in’ deckchair seating is also available near the screen, at $25 per person.

As the major sponsor, Audi will supply a range of luxury cars for the ultimate drive-in experience. The cars will all feature razor-sharp sound from audio partner Bang & Olufsen.
