TOKYO, JAPAN – Oct 9, 2012: The sleek and sexy Honda Civic Hatch has been awarded a Women’s World Car of the Year award for 2012.

Introduced for the first time in 2009, the Women’s World Car of the Year awards program recognises the power and influence of female car purchasers worldwide.

Members of the 2012 judging panel presented the award to Toshiaki Konaka, Director Honda Motor Europe Car Division on the Honda stand at the Paris Motor Show.

Mr. Konaka commented: “This award highlights the unique exterior styling and practical interior that are synonymous with the Civic [Hatch].”

The Women’s World Car of the Year judging panel is comprised of female motoring writers from 12 countries including two from Australia. Finalists are selected from an initial entry list of 300 cars and assessed according to criteria women consider when buying a car; safety, value-for-money, aesthetic appearance, storage space, ease-of-driving, colour, sex appeal, environmental footprint and child friendliness.

Awards are divided into four categories; Family Car, Luxury Car, Sports Car and Economy Car. The Honda Civic Hatch was chosen as the winner for the Economy Car category.

Launched recently in Australia, the Honda Civic Hatch blends European styling with amazing versatility; from its ‘Magic Seats’ that fold 18 different ways, to its intelligent Multi-Information Display and huge interior space. These features are all underpinned by a five-star ANCAP safety rating and increased fuel efficiency.
